La Hesperia Reserva Natural is an 814-hectare cloud forest nature reserve located in the western range of the Andes of Ecuador. To protect the unique variety of animal and plant species found in the forest, environmental conservation is absolutely essential and thus is a leading priority at La Hesperia. Work at the reserve primarily entails preserving existing forest and carrying out sustainable and economically viable activities such as organic agriculture and eco-construction to promote self-sufficiency. La Hesperia strives to be a model of ecological sustainability and conservation.
