About.
El Amargal is a biological reserve located on the west coast of Colombia, in the department of Chocó. It derives its name from the species Welfia regia, or Amargo palm, which is abundant in the area.
The reserve offers a national and international volunteering program, in which those who are interest in research, tropical rainforest preservation, or getting out of the routine, can spend time in El Amargal, while there they enjoy a unique experience, helping in further investigations and the maintenance of the biological station
