This Permaculture Design Course includes: 72 hours of class and design time with hands on projects. Explore and interact with Cacao, Coffee, & Cardamom production. You will also learn about silvopasture, rainforest conservation, sustainable timber production, community development, fertility management, tropical food production, and animal systems.

Jeremy Fellows has focused ten years of study, mentorship and implementation on permaculture design systems and teaching modalities. With many years of experience in Botany, Horticulture and Soil science he is fascinated by the world of plants. After working many years in Guatemala, Jeremy has dedicated his work on land and water management systems that lend to ecological acceleration and social integration through food production.

Oliver M. Goshey is an accomplished natural builder who has worked in eleven countries on six continents. After six years of working in the industrial building trades and as a maritime engineer, he apprenticed with the Cob Cottage Company, specializing in cob and earthen plasters and finishes. Abundant Edge is his culmination of years of passionate research, travel, and experimentation with earthen building materials and regenerative design techniques. Oliver is passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles that repair and advance ecosystems through symbiotic design and compassionate construction.

Neal Hegarty is originally from Ireland. He grew up on a dairy farm and has been around animals all his life. He studied agriculture in Ireland and has worked as a permaculturist for the past 10 years in Antigua. During his weekends he helps families to start permaculture gardens. Neil runs the volunteers every day at Atitlan Organics, a sustainable and profitable permaculture farm in Tzununa on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. He has worked extensively on international development projects and on private landscape development endeavors in Guatemala.

Laurent Maniet is the founder of Dalileo Chocolate and the architect behing the cacao forest agroforestry systems. He has years of experience in productive sylvopasture and agroforestry and is hosting this event on his plantation, Finca El Porvenir.

Getting here.

We are running a bus, which leaves from San Marcos la laguna at 6am on the 16th of Jan and arrives that evening. This bus can pick you up in San Marcos La Laguna, Antigua, or Guatemala City.

The cost of this bus is Q200.

Alternatively, shuttles will run you as far as San Julian, from which point you will have to catch a public bus as far as Teleman, which takes about four hours. From there you will take a tuk tuk to Finca El Porvenir.
