Acerca de
Emerging permaculture center that's part of a spiritual/educational non-profit organization and community situated on 340 acres of preserved historic land. We take a broad-sweeping approach to permaculture, starting with the self as zone 0. Here you'll find a mix of inner work and contemplative opportunities, ancient trees, history, wildlife, music, and celebration of the funky reciprocal and interconnected nature of life on earth.

3-Month Permaculture Internship Program
Duration: 13 weeks (August 23rd - November 20th)
Cost: $2,600: broken up into $1,300 for housing and utilities, and $1,300 for tuition to cover program expenses. For those who cannot afford the standard rate, scholarships may be available.
This fall, Claymont is offering a permaculture internship program for folks wanting to have a balanced learning experience focused on permaculture, land stewardship, and spirituality. This program is built to strengthen and encourage practices that support greater awareness of patterns in nature, groups, and individuals, as well as practical skill-building to support areas the interns want to grow in. It will be an opportunity to learn about permaculture and earth-honoring frameworks, as well as self and group awareness, and then to directly apply what is learned to land-based projects and initiatives. In addition, interns will have access to a network of teachers and sites local to the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, teachers within Claymont's spiritual community, a support team, and selected resources and texts to engage with throughout the program.
The program is broken into different learning blocks:
+ An introductory block of permaculture workshops taught by local permaculture teachers
+ A mini-apprenticeship block where the interns get to focus on building a particular skillset (such as building, harvesting, planting, canning, etc.), and where interns will have the opportunity to go on site visits to other land-based sites, and
+ A self-driven/peer education block focused on implementing a project of interest and that is related to the next phase the intern will be entering into upon leaving the program
Each week will also be structured to deepen the interns' personal and practical understanding of the twelve different permaculture principles, as outlined by David Holmgren, as well as generalized values of earth-based spirituality and awareness.
