About.
Anahata is a place of learning ~ self-discovery ~ renewal & healing ~ harmony & cooperation ~ authentic connection ~ creative expression ~ celebration ~ nature immersion ~ inclusive spirituality ~ service to all. We are a loving community and gathering place situated on 35 pristine acres along the Little River in Floyd County, Virginia. We explore the sacred interrelation of people, nature and the cosmos. We invite you to come explore, learn and share with us as we live in the heart - the ‘Anahata’ - a Sanskrit word for the heart center.
We offer a variety of events, classes and retreats throughout the week, month and year, including seasonal celebrations, house concerts and skill shares. Spontaneous music-making is a common occurrence! We seek sustainable food production on our 35 acres of permaculture land with a full array of gardens, herbs, chickens, orchards, berry patches, fishable river, and more. We offer onsite healing modalities, including massage, Reiki, sound healing, coaching and retreat guidance, Ayurvedic consultations, and customized well-being retreats. We offer opportunities for further immersion in our community through volunteering, visiting, seasonal internships/work-study, prospective member programs, membership & residency, and trustee/owner/home builder status. Our gorgeous timber frame celebration space/main house, spacious riverfront area, platform and tents, yurt, and rustic cabin provide ample space for guests and special events. We have sacred pine forests and a riverfront paradise for contemplation, swimming, kayaking, fishing, play, fire circles, celebrations and ceremonies. We have a labyrinth/gazebo, sound temple yurt, open air dance platform, open air kitchen, outhouses, warm outdoor showers, and more! Our community is currently 14 adults, 2 children, with room for a few more and seasonal visitors. Come join us!
