About.
The hackerfarm is an experiment to combine the hacker culture with the abundant natural and cultural resources of rural communities in order to have fun, but to hopefully make a positive contribution to the community, and to society overall, in the process.
We are a community of foreign and Japanese resident engineers and artists in a rural area about 2 hours to the south east of Tokyo Japan. Our primary projects consist of learning how to apply open source IoT technology to rural small scale farming. We also engage in rural revitalization and community development. We value diversity, time over money, and freedom over security.
Those interested in visiting are first encouraged to come to an event at the Satoyama Design Factory or to our Tokyo Meetups and get to know us.
