About.

We are an non-governmental organisation in Guatemala welcoming international interns, which is part of how we finance the services we provide to primarily very low income indigenous women. We have a policy to offer care to all women who come to us. This means that we do not turn away a client, even if they do not have the money for their appointment.

Our intern program has been functioning for almost twenty years and we have given over 100 students an insight into midwifery and women's healthcare within the guatemalan culture.

Interns will also have involvement at our center in Guatemala City: Centro de Parto Natural Ixchel. They will have the opportunity to participate in clinical practice according to the North American midwifery model of care in which the priority is highly personalised, respectful care that is directed towards the woman’s empowerment. Basic to intermediate Spanish is a requirement.

We appreciate if you share our feminist views on sexual and reproductive health.

Must be a very motivated, flexible and self-sufficient person.

We offer a rich cultural learning environment and an opportunity for you to improve your Spanish.
