About.
Mahadevi Ashram has been created as a save haven offering authentic Hatha Yoga, Advaita Vedanta (the non-duality tradition of India) & Spirituality in Central America. Our approach is based on the original idea of Yoga as a transformational Science of Consciousness, using not just the body, but through the body reaching deeply into Mind, Heart & Soul of the seeker. Steering clear of lots of 'woo' we correlate the ancient wisdom and practices to modern scientific findings, making them accessible for our Western rationalistic mentality without simplifying or distorting them.
The Ashram is located outside the picturesque Mayan village of San Marcos La Laguna, the 'Yoga Capital of Central America', on incredible Lago Atitlan, a powerful sacred spot for Healing and Spiritual evolution.
The simple facilities and affordable rates the ashram offers allow for long-term study into the mysteries of the Self in a cozy family-like environment.
Our eco-rustic bamboo-built private rooms, 4-bed dorms, yurts and treehouse are set in a jungly garden overlooking the crater lake with its three majestic volcanoes.
