About.

Sueño de Vida (dream of life) is located just a few hours away from the bustling capitol of Quito, nestled in a green valley of cloud forest in the blue Andean foothills. Sueño de Vida is a secluded nature lodge where visitors can wake up each day feeling rested, energized, and at peace. Our project spans over 12 hectares of land encompassing gardens, pasture, forest, springs, and lagoons where visitors are free to walk, explore, and swim. Toucans, parakeets, eagles, hummingbirds, multi-colored butterflies, electric blue lizards, silver frogs, and bright fireflies abound here. But even more astonishing natural beauty, Sueño de Vida is a very special place where people can see and feel what it's really like to live simply, sustainably, and in stewardship to the land.

Juan and I built our dream of life over the past year from the ground up relying mainly on our own perseverance, resourcefulness, and ingenuity. We are practical people living by a basic grounded principle: take care of the land and it will take care of you. We aren't out to alter anyone's conscience or elevate anyone's ideals. We figure if you're reading this, you're probably already there. So if you'd like to learn off-grid skills or just chill out with some regular folks who left the rat race to follow their dream, welcome to Sueño de Vida!

What do we do here? We construct comfortable buildings in harmony with our surroundings, using natural and recycled materials like bamboo, mud, stones, pallets, and bottles. We plant trees, grow food, collect rainwater, compost, and enrich the soil. We tend to our animals and enjoy their companionship. We have a volunteer program and host workshops where you can learn how to do these things too. If you're looking more for some R&R, we also offer a "Relax and Chill" experience including yoga, swimming under cascades, nature hikes, and lots of hammock-time. Volunteers are also welcome to these activities in their free time. And all are invited to enjoy wholesome tasty meals, savor hot chocolate made from local cacao beans), play some music, sleep soundly, and wake to the sounds of birds.
