About.
Welcome to the Mauser EcoHouse. A new and ongoing project by the Directors of the Mauser Harmony with Nature Foundation. Our 501(c)(3) tax exempt Foundation was incorporated in 1998 in memory of our friend and mentor, Professor Ferdinand Mauser. Our goal is to transform the EcoHouse into a center providing classes, retreats and seminars to students, professionals, interns and families, focused on sustainable living, such as growing your own organic food, composting and purchasing eco friendly products.
Since purchasing the villa, which we named Mauser EcoHouse, in Jan. 2016:
*5 swales have been excavated and planted with herbs and vegetables
*numerous trees, including banana, avocado, breadfruit & guanábana have been planted on our 1.45 acres
*herb garden plantings include oregano, wild cilantro & stevia
All in an effort to turn our little piece of land into an organic food forest.
Hard work has turned our dormant compost circle into a thriving microbial habitat.
With the help of our two interns, Melissa and Jenna, we recently constructed a 12ft high, 30ft diameter, greenhouse which houses our 3 garden beds and new seedlings.
The Mauser EcoHouse is a work in progress. We are motivated by our desire to be of service to our local community and in some small way, contribute to the greater good.
Your stay will include a tour of our properties sustainable features and our medicinal and tropical plants by our on-site Director, Heather, who is:
*fluent in English and Spanish
*a Certified Massage Therapist
*worked as a Chinese Herbalist for 15 yrs
*is versed in Chinese medicine.
You can avail yourself of her services for a nominal fee.
Your stay at the Mauser EcoHouse will assist us in accomplishing our goal of providing an educational hub for visitors to have hands-on experience about living in
