At GUARDIAN, we strive for the growth of a global consciousness that values the protection of Earth and it's people.

Founded in 2020, GUARDIAN is made of a group of professional outdoor educators who specialize in finding the most authentic travel experiences that will leave people with a lifelong memory. We work directly with indigenous populations and operate in remote areas where the tourist "path" does not go. We rely on our extensive experience working in the outdoors and emergency first aid skills to manage risk while providing an experience like no other. The trips we offer are not a commodity and should not be found in a travel magazine. We seek a path that will help you to truly become a GUARDIAN of mother earth.

15 - Day backpacking expedition along the Northern Coast of Colombia

Embark on an expedition of a lifetime to La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the tallest coastal mountain range in the world. Recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, this pyramidal volcanic massif rises to 18,700 feet (5700m) above sea level. It is home to every biome found in South America. A literal microcosm of planet earth, with over 625 endemic bird species, more than any other place in the world. Birthplace of the ancient pre-hispanic culture the Tayrona, who call their mountainous home “The Heart of World.” They believe that whatever happens here also occurs everywhere else in the world. Today the descendants of the Tayrona still live in a mountain that separates themselves into four tribes, the Arhuaco, the Kogi, the Kankuamo and the Wiwa. They call themselves the Elder Brothers, a people committed to maintaining the equilibrium of the Earth by their daily rituals, mental discipline, and meditations.

This backpacking expedition will include hiking, spending days with the Indigenous, and camping all while immersed in the beauty of the La Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta. We first visit an area with the opportunity to learn the traditions, culture, and beliefs of one of the last remaining ancient people of this earth. Participants will then hike to the “The Lost City” of the Tayrona, and finish their expedition by traveling to the northern tip of South America --Punta Gallinas -- to stand on the top of the continent.
