We have created the first ecovillages of french part of Switzerland, in beautiful sites.

La Smala is the mother association, which runs the Eco-Houses owned by the cooperative Bâtir Groupé, with convivial meals open to the public, training of animators, permaculture gardens and an ecological way of living. We have 2 ecovillages already in function since 2016, and growing.

In both of our Ecovillages we adopt an ecological and community-based way of living. We live in relatively small private rooms (some of them have private bathroom and kitchen) and we have big shared spaces (cafeteria, party rooms, garage, multi-purpose rooms). The food is usually vegetarian and organic and we share as many things as possible in our everyday life, material and immaterial.



GRANDVAUX ECOVILLAGE is the first ecovillage of the French part of Switzerland, in Grandvaux (VD), in the middle of the vineyards of Lavaux (UNESCO). Another ecovillage is located in the countryside in Cheiry (FR). Both of these ecovillages are labelled ECOPOL, and we are part of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN).

Grandvaux is situated at 10 minutes by train from the city of Lausanne and 15 min walking from the Leman Lake. In front of the house, we have a common permaculture garden and some hiking path close to our house.

CHEIRY ECOVILLAGE is situated in the countryside of the state of Fribourg (55min by bus), near Payerne (25min by bus) and near the Roman town of Avenches (40min by bus). The ecovillage stands in a perfect nature space with fields, forests and rivers. There is also a common permaculture garden to be empowered in summer 2019.

Program.

We are looking for multi-skilled fantastic people that are interested in living and working in our ecological communities. The functions that you will have in exchange of free lunch and bedroom are: cooking and/or gardening, cleaning and/or carpenting and/or painting for about 4 to 5 hours a day.

AVAILABILITY : minimum 1 month, ideally 3-6 months, anytime starting June 2019 !
