About.
In 2019 Matthew Human started hosting these Playshops (because who wants to go on vacation to work!) to provide guests with a venue where they can unplug their devices and connect with fellow humans in a beautiful and nature- rich environment. It is centered around the basic human needs of connection, food, water, and nature. This experience is about slowing down, and getting back into the rhythm of nature, even if just for a short time!

About Your Host Matthew Human:
For over 20 years I have been traveling the Americas studying community building and natural living while on tour with my own conscious roots Americana band The Human Revolution. Eleven years ago, I joined the ecovillage where we will be hosting this event and started to put my knowledge to work by developing an intimate community space where I could host groups to share in my community experience and knowledge. Homesteading has taught me so much about living with and off the land. Our farm is completely off the grid using only solar systems to power lights and devices and gravity fed water (filtered for your pleasure!). For years I was elected to tend fire at various community roots gatherings and feel an affinity and respect for the ancient flame. I started seriously studying permaculture in 2011 with Stephen Brooks, eventually taking a PDC (Permaculture Design Course) and receiving a certification. I have led multiple tours around the country of Costa Rica for Envision Festivals, and I am a part time jungle chef, and a full time acoustic musician. I am fluent in English and pretty decent in Spanish and am available to assist you any time.
What We’ll Do:
Each day will start with you waking up to the sound of the tropical birds in the morning followed by coffee and communion with the other guests in the house or in a hammock. Next we'll make a farm fresh breakfast together using as much food off the farm as possible. Late morning is time to be free on the farm, help out with land projects, do enjoy some yoga on the yoga veranda or enjoy your own free time. After a lighter lunch it starts to get hot so we will hike down the trail to the mystical Rio Machuca, across the land discussing the experience of living in a permaculture ecovillage along the way. In the afternoon we will have some free time followed by the daily farm chores (optional), an evening cocktail or glass of wine followed by an amazing dinner which we will prepare together. Afterwards, perhaps a private concert on the porch or around the cozy community fire by Matthew Human or one of his friends. We also have cards and dominos. Before heading to bed we will have an optional 10 minute silent group meditation to reflect on the day or just let the mind relax. This will repeat
