"The Shim Gwang Sa (Mind Light Temple), located in Brighton Massachusetts, is the world headquarters for the American Buddhist Shim Gum Do Association. The temple is home to our residential program, here we teach the Zen martial art of Shim Gum Do (Mind Sword Path), Zen meditation and traditional temple arts of bowing and chanting in a communal living setting. The program schedule is set up to accommodate both work and school schedules, with meditation, bowing and chanting taking place in the mornings and classes in the martial art taught in the evenings between 6-8pm. Other aspects of the program include communal meals and tending to the temple and gardens. Suggested duration of a residency at Shim Gwang Sa is one year, minimum is 3 months.
