PACIFIC SCIENCE INSTITUTE
Providing scientists the freedom to explore the boundaries of knowledge in an independent, transdisciplinary research community outside the confines of traditional academic institutions.
Our mission is to provide scientists the freedom to explore the boundaries of knowledge in an independent, transdisciplinary research community outside the confines of traditional academic institutions.
The Pacific Science Institute is an outpost on the frontier of science, geographically and intellectually, with an ever-expanding reach. We envision an ideal theoretical research environment, where resident guests do groundbreaking and valuable work. In this idyllic location, diverse worldviews and a playful approach to life converge, opening doors to creativity and breakthrough thinking. Within this supportive environment, edgier research directions can be pursued to new conclusions.
Making life better for scientists.
We have four bedrooms, including two guest cabins available for short and long term guests.
If you would like to visit PSI, please consider some things first:
A) Are you a good house guest?
B) Are you working on something related to science?
C) Do you like to play outside?
If, after self-selecting based on these criteria, you think you'd like to visit, we have a multi-step application process:
1) Be awesome.
2) Ask.
There may be some flexibility on (1), but not on (2). Also, proposing rough dates for your visit will help. Please do keep in mind that if you don't know the hosts very well, or you are insufficiently awesome, or you've chosen dates when the institute is full, or we just feel like some alone time, we likely won't be able to accommodate you. Don't feel bad if this happens, we probably still like you and think you're a good person.
