About.
Hale Akua is a unique sanctuary and retreat center overlooking 30 miles of untouched Maui coastline. Our quiet contemplative atmosphere and lush tropical settling on the North Shore of Maui offer an ideal venue to dive deeper into what inspires you, to open, relax, rejuvenate, learn and connect in a place of unusual natural beauty.
Our property encompasses seven acres, two and a half of which are under certified organic agricultural cultivation. Walkways through the property reveal jungle gardens, ocean vistas, tropical landscapes, lily ponds and a permaculture-inspired food forest. Retreat groups are invited to enjoy a complimentary Introduction to Organic Farming class tour.
Our retreat facilities include lodgings in four comfortable buildings at Hale Akua and two at Pali Uli Gardens (a special area within our retreat center). Groups gather in our 1050 sq. ft. yoga studio/meeting room with cork floor, skylights, ceiling fans, one mirrored wall and sliding screen and glass doors on two sides. Back jacks, meditation cushions, folding chairs, a quality sound system, a movie screen and projector are available for your use in the studio. Guests enjoy high speed internet in all buildings.
Amenities at Hale Akua include a 60′ saltwater swimming pool, ocean view hot tubs, an infrared dry sauna and a popular morning Yoga Class (available depending on your groups’ scheduled use of our yoga studio).
Our large community kitchen adjoins indoor and covered outdoor dining areas. Farm to table organic produce, honey in season, and eggs from Hale Akua are available to retreat caterers and guests.
We are only fifteen minutes drive from waterfalls and bamboo forest trails. Half an hour’s drive brings you to sandy ocean beaches, restaurants, galleries and a great health food store in Paia. The tiny town of Haiku is fifteen minutes away, with a few quality cafes and restaurants and our local post office.
