About.
CRMPI is a high altitude demonstration forest garden and training facility located 7200ft above sea level in beautiful Basalt, CO.
The Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute (CRMPI) is a 501(c)(3) sustainable agricultural education center where ecological gardening, edible landscaping, market farming, forest gardening, horticultural and sustainability skills, and greenhouse design and management have been taught since 1987. CRMPI empowers individuals and communities to become healthy and resilient through sustainable cultivation of abundant foods and natural resources. By providing workshops, courses, internships and a demonstration site, CRMPI has taught over 2,500 students/interns from around the world to practice sustainable living through permaculture. It also provides tours and field trips to the public, giving many insights to the value of permaculture in food sustainability and security.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Capable, independent people with a stable core and ability to work under pressure. This is a fast paced environment and everyone here must share cooking, cleaning, and farm activities. This is not glamorous work. Communal homesteading and farming takes a lot of physical and mental endurance. You’ve been warned!
Work days generally run from 8am – 6pm, five days on, two days off.
You must announce your intended days off to the group to ensure there are no egregious scheduling snafus. No one will schedule your days off for you. Please take your days off regularly – we live in a beautiful valley with lots to see and do.
Interning
Work days begin at 9am and end around 6pm.
Breakfast from 8-9 w/ morning meeting.
Lunch around noon.
Dinner after 5pm.
CRMPI has thrived for more than three decades due to dedicated volunteers like you, thank you!
Select short term volunteers will be accepted during the summer from May – September.
