About.

2018 is a quiet, formative year for us. Renovation and planning!

ARC 38 is a 501c3 not-for-profit intentional community situated on 188 acres of protected wetland, agricultural property and forested hills teeming with biodiversity. Located in the beautiful Harlem Valley in Amenia, New York, we’re 2 hours from NYC @ last stop of the Metro North Harlem Line train. Only 8 miles from the Appalachian Trail, we have attracted diverse groups to experience our vision.

With its roots grounded in activism, sustainability, agriculture, building networks and radical pacifism— ARC 38 strives to embody a living experiment in community building. Our project upholds principles from many models for society developed throughout history to transition toward new ways of living. We aim to become a demonstration site, providing a support system to help people practice & share mutual aid, to refine the template of solutions to help other communities caretake their lands all over the globe.
