About.

Our land project here in the central rural Nicaragua is focused on living & modelling from our sacred teacher mother nature. Our way of life is in alignment with our planets natural cycles, minimising our ecological footprint, building in a regenerative & holistic way, creating economic opportunities for local community & to eat a majority of seasonal produce distributed locally by our neighbours & fellow farmers.

The underlying mission of the land project is to be guardians of the food forest we are planting here, abundant with exotic Nicaraguan fruits & perennial root crops. Its now more important than ever that we localise our resources & food security within our communities to thrive in self – reliance.

Please feel free to contact us, we are always looking for enthusiastic & skilled volunteers to help us bring our vision to life.

ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR A SHORT TERM TO LONG TERM VOLUNTEERS FROM APRIL 2020 ONWARDS

If you are looking for a rural cultural immersion, this is for you! Improve your Spanish & off-grid living skills all at once.

Lodging on the farm is pretty basic and rustic, though we do have a large pagoda style building designed and built by Sunray Kelly. It's still a work in progress but will serve as the communal area and kitchen, as well as a yoga space. We also have a more conventional building made from concrete that serves as a caretaker and guesthouse storage space. We have a treehouse and outdoor kitchen with a grill and oven, cob table and bench. We have composting toilets and we are open to projects you may like to begin!
We have just recently connected electricity & do receive municipal water. In the dry season (January-May) we are rationed water 2-3 days a week., however we drink, wash & shower from a large water tank. The water is safe to drink, however bathing may be infrequent.

At the moment our long term plan is sort of undecided, we're focusing on short term projects like planting more fruit trees and a vegetable garden. Also building a natural pool to serve as a reservoir for irrigation (and bathing).

We are looking for all sorts of volunteers, from beginners to experts, to help share ideas and energy. We are open minded folk who want to create a space for growth of all kinds, personal and natural. Although we aren't at the farm full time year round, we have a network of friends and neighbours who look out for us and us for them. Our progress has been start stop but we have reached a point where we can host people and move projects along.

Please send us a message if you'd like to come join us. We'd love to host you, especially those keen in getting off the "gringo trail" and experiencing the Nicaraguan countryside. Who knows, you might even learn some Spanish?
