The larger goal of the centre is to be an example of sustainable living and to create leaders that will create positive change in the world.

Earth Connection is the umbrella non-profit that brings together three centres of education, research and action - Popal Naaj - House of Wisdom is focused on ecological and environmental sustainability education, and leadership training, the Imix Research Station - focused on ecological and horticultural research and innovation, Planet Healers - is focused on ecological restoration and carbon sequestration. The center is being designed to the highest standards of eco-design and alternative technologies.

Ecological Restoration - May areas of Mexico have been degraded and we will be teaching how to restore these habitats to functioning ecosystems. Half of the land at the center will be restored as an Eco-reserve for demonstration.

Alternative Agriculture - Groundwater and soil contamination is a big problem in Mexico. We are creating permaculture gardens to demonstrate and teach organic growing techniques. Coconut, bamboo and tropical fruits will be grown in a food forest for income generation and demonstration.

Innovation Laboratory - The world faces many ecological problems and for many there are solutions. We are creating an innovation laboratory to spark those solutions. We will also be building, testing and improving innovative solutions as part of the creative commons. We will be sparking new businesses with these innovative solutions.

Plastics Recycling - We will be building machines to recycle and reuse discarded plastic. Plastic is a huge ecological problem in Mexico and in many other countries. We will be teaching people how to reuse the discarded plastics to make new products and start new businesses.

We are always open to partnership, collaboration and looking for sources of funding. Please contact us if you wish to get involved.

We are accepting volunteers. Please send us your resume and a letter describing what you can contribute to the project.

We are at the beginning stages of the project so accommodation is basic but improves with every volunteer we share the journey with!
