The Consortium (Consorcio) of Associations of Santiago Atitlan was founded in 2010, and consists of 11 women's’ organizations. It was born with the goal of improving the lives of women in Guatemala, and particularly the indigenous women of Santiago Atitlan.
Consorcio’s mission is to find opportunities to produce, innovate, and commercialize artisanal products in order to improve the quality of life of the families of its members, valuing and preserving native Tzu’tujil Maya cultural traditions, promoting education training of its members, and placing its members in decision-making spaces.
