About.

Le Hameau des Buis

The Hameau des Buis is a place of life and hospitality around a school, on an agricultural food base in the south of the Ardèche. It includes about twenty dwellings, from studio to T4, entirely conceived in a bioclimatic way based on ecological materials. Each building, very carefully insulated, benefits from direct solar heating, double glazing, solar hot water, rainwater recovery, dry toilets. The Hameau des Buis is laureate of the regional Prebât grant for buildings at very high energy performance. Some spaces and household equipment are shared (laundry, car-sharing, tools, etc.

The school welcomes 80 students from kindergarten to college and takes its place in a traditional Ardèche farmhouse completely renovated in a bioclimatic way, and some contemporary yurts. Other spaces are reserved for the reception of volunteers and the necessities of the place (workshops, carpentry ...). The farm includes small farms (goats, chickens, pigs, ponies ...), an orchard and vegetable production in full development since the completion of the rainwater recovery basin.
