La Farmacia Organica is a family owned and operated organic food distribution service, organic health food store, with a large organic vegetable and tropical medicinal plant garden.  We are in the process of adding an all organic vegetarian cafe to the store.

We are located in the beautiful community of Nuevo Arenal, with rich soils and wonderful people on the gorgeous Lake Arenal.

Let the food be our medicine. We are strong believers in the importance consuming foods rich with vitality and minerals. We nurture our soils with frequent sprays of microorganisms brewed with rock powders.

If you are interested in medicinal plants, tropical organic gardening, perennial plants, small retail business management, food distribution systems, properly prepared foods and plant based nutrition we would love to share our experience and make more experiences!

We are excited to offer intern positions to individuals who want to learn, grow, and immerse into the life in the tropics as a small health food store owner and urban gardener.

Our work day Monday-Wednesday begins at 8am and ends at 6pm. On Thursday-Friday delivery days, vegetables are picked up at various organic farms, separated into boxes, and delivered to customers, these days last from 5am-8pm.

The interns are required to work with us 5 hours a day (6 days a week) on productive tasks (gardening, spraying microorganisms, making rock dust brews, food prep, transplanting, tending to nursery plants, food delivery assistant, artwork, giving garden tours, store support, marketing materials and community outreach). The store is closed on Sundays and most people take this day off completely.

Interns living in store house will have specific responsibilities that will be part of there 5 hour/day work requirement.

Interns can leave willingly for adventures and travel.

The access to three vegetarian meals a day is included. Food is at least 90% organic. Most meals are communal however there may be times when you need to cook for yourself and you will always have access to a fully equipped kitchen. Snack food is not included in this and must be purchased separately (including our store, there are at least 5 super markets in walking distance). Good quality meats are also available to purchase upon request.

Intern will most likely be in a twin bed, sharing a bedroom with another intern.

Indoor bathroom with shower is available at all times.

Please expect activity and laughter. Children are a large part of our community and lives and there are often children around the store and our home.

Please also expect wild, incredible, and uplifting conversations with all the amazing people that visit and shop at La Farmacia Organica.

The weather can be chilly and rainy or hot humid, pack for it all!
