Rosemary is a unique centre which empowers individuals by giving them the tools they need to live their optimal way of life. We'll find your perfect balance between mind, body and modern world by reconnecting to yourself, nature and the tools to create a conscious impact on the world.
Who are we?
GET WILD. OUR HOME. YOUR PLAYGROUND.
We are an international group of people who create unique experiences that will empower you to live your optimal way of life. Rosemary Dream is our first place opened to inspire, educate and activate people from all around the world to be happier, more productive and to live their dreams. We give people the the tools and life lessons to enhance their everyday life, in whatever context they may find themselves in. Through a systematic process we are able to allow people to understand, develop and utilise their inner strengths.
How did it all start?
WE DREAM, WE DARE, WE DO.
We started as travellers and went crazy all the way with the idea of living a better life and helping others to do the same. Then we bought a very, very big piece of land between forest, mountains, ocean, lake and a river in a fishing village called Barra Da Lagoa in Florianopolis, Brazil; the 'magic island' of Santa Catarina. For the last year we have been building this place for YOU. Bringing in the right people to create the perfect space to grow, experience and enjoy. We are surrounded by a warm-hearted community where waving "Oi" to a stranger, hugging an old woman and chatting with the peaceful fisherman is normality. :)
The current people we are looking for are:
- Kitchen manager
- Kitchen helper
- Recruitment operator
- Permaculture project leader
- Reception manager
Every volunteer gets the privilege of breakfast and lunch everyday (excluding Sunday), which is always nutritious and delicious. On an average day we have fresh fruits, such as watermelon, apple, banana and papaya, raisin and coconut oats, egg frittata, fruit compote and a healthy treat of some sort; truly the breakfast of kings. Lunch is equally as tasty and healthy, but changes from day to day. Every Tuesday and Friday we get together; staff and guests, to eat a family meal. This is a shared dinner to strengthen bonds and form new ones around some filling food.
All volunteers are given free accommodation in shared mixed dorms. We provide towels and sheets and of course, we have lovely hot showers. We also have a range of accommodation to use at your will, including flying tents, jungle hammocks and areas for wild camping.
Each week we create a different schedule that includes all the daily activities. The activities depend on which members of the family we have currently at Rosemary. This means you could be doing things like yoga, meditation, krav maga, fishing, dance, poetry, hiking, surfing, chess club or knife throwing. Not only this, but we also have weekly empowerment session where we will discuss, teach and learn about topics such as social fears, personal barriers, goal setting, personal identity and finding purpose.
Access to Facilities
Rosemary is not just a really cool hostel. We have 700 h/a of mountain, woodland and coast to offer. There are many amazing hikes and walks to do in the area. One to the lighthouse overlooking Barra da Lagoa, another to an astro-archaeological site, another to nudist beach and many more. We have two yoga decks overlooking the sea and Barra which can be used for many activities or just to sit and admire the view. We also have surfboards for you to use at your leisure.
The people that come to volunteer at Rosemary are special. They are part of the family because they share our values and strive to create a positive living space. Whilst you work here you will experience the dynamic energy of positive, fun and ambitious people who want to push themselves and Rosemary to new heights. We are constantly looking to improve and challenge ourselves in order to positively impact the world and make us happier and more productive people.
You are not working for us, you are working with us. Our promise to you is that we will always work with you to make certain that there is a mutual benefit; This means building trust and having open and honest conversations to ensure that we’re both excited by the relationship. With all of our positions at Rosemary, we strive to help you learn, work hard and have maximum amount of fun.
For us, it’s done through giving you the tools to create a healthy balance of mind, body and connection with nature and people for yourself. We want to guide you through and perspective changing experience that we believe will change the course of your life.
We expect all volunteers to work for 6 hours a day or 36 hours a week. We don’t believe in 9 to 5’s so some days you might get what you need to get done early, other days you might need to finish off what you’re working on. When you do your hours will primarily be decided by you, but we do ask that you are flexible so that we can maintain a high standard of delivery.
Generally speaking, we do 6 days a week. This isn’t a strict rule as we appreciate it’s important to have time off to fill your time how you please, so we are happy if you decide to do your hours in the week and have an extra day to yourself.
Our standard volunteer roles require a minimum time commitment of 4 weeks to ensure you have time to learn about Rosemary and your role whilst you settle in. For managerial and skilled roles (e.g. Life Coach) we require 6 weeks and 12 weeks for receptionists. Every new family member will have a review after 10 days and 4 weeks to ensure that we are both happy with how the relationship is working. If everything is good you can stay forever. You will always be part of the family.
Everything, including work, should be fun. We will try and make sure you feel happy and confident with whatever you are doing. In return we ask you to turn up energised, open-minded and willing. It’s way more satisfying if we can get in, smash it and go to play outside.
Sometimes we like to get everyone involved. Every Wednesday we have a family meeting where we all come together to do an activity; less of a chore and more to give everyone time to get to know each other better. Every Friday after work we get together to give everyone the space to talk about the things we enjoyed about the week and the areas that we feel could be improved at Rosemary. As well as this, we want to create an exchange between all the people at Rosemary. This means that you might find yourself sharing your interests, skills, hobbies or passions in a workshop or Rosy Talk. Don’t be scared though, it’s a judgement-free and encouraging environment.
The people make the place and together we make something special. We want to make sure that Rosemary is an environment of sanctity and cleanliness. This doesn’t mean talking with soft voices and calling sugar the devil, but we do want to make sure that we can live healthy. To do so we ask everybody in Rosemary to refrain from drinking alcohol, using illegal drugs and using profanity. Of course you have a choice to do whatever you would like outside of Rosemary so long as you respect the rules inside.
