Heartwood Mountain
Sanctuary is an
educational retreat
sanctuary whose members
and staff are attempting to
live lightly on the earth.
We ask you to join us in this
endeavor, and hope that
the following information
will help make your stay
more enjoyable.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
We ask our guests to refrain
from the use of drugs and
alcohol in public spaces.

SMOKING
You may smoke tobacco in
the Smoking Temple, behind
the waste/recycling shed at
the Lodge Area. This is close
to the Kiva building and the
Kitchen Garden.

Please carry a flashlight with
you at night.

FIRE PRECAUTIONS
In the event that you see a
fire, please go to any phone
and dial 911. This will initiate
a page out to our local
Volunteer Fire Department.
Then locate a staff member
and report it to them.

STAY ON THE TRAIL!!
There are many paths to
take at Heartwood. Please
check in at our Welcome
Center for a map and
descriptions of where to
hike. People who trespass
on to other property may be
Prosecuted. Please be
thoughtful of our neighbors.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS
ARE LOCATED AT ALL
HEARTWOOD PHONESCARS
Your vehicle may be driven to
your building for loading and
unloading, but must be left in
the parking lot at other times.

RESTROOMS AND
SHOWERS
Restrooms are located in the
Lodge, Madrone, Willow, Spa
and Sunrise. There are
separate shower facilities for
men and women at Willow,
and shared showers at
Madrone, the Spa and
Sunrise.

SPA
There is no lifeguard on duty!!
You are responsible for your
own safety.
The hot tub and sauna are
open year-round from 11am-
11pm. The pool is open May
through September.

FACILITIES
COMMUNITY KITCHEN
is located just east of the
Lodge. Please read the
agreements (posted inside)
before storing or preparing
food there. Please clean up
after yourself when you are
done preparing your food.

FILTERED WATER
Filtered water is available at
many of the sinks around
campus, such as the ones in
the Lodge, the Community
Kitchen, at Madrone, and in
the Sunrise classroom.

LAUNDRY
The laundry room is located
next to Bodhi and at the
Lower Dorms.
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are from
10pm until 8 am.

WATER CONSERVATION
Water is a precious resource,
especially during summer and
fall. Please do not let water run
while brushing teeth or shaving.
Please notify a staff person of
any dripping faucets or leaks.

ENERGY CONSERVATION
When you are the last to
leave a room, please turn off
the lights and the heater.

RECYCLING
Recycling bins are located in
the trash-collection area (to the
left of Kiva), the lower dorms,
Bodhi, Madrone, Cabinettes,
across from Sunrise, outside
the Welcome Center, in the
Lodge, and in the Community
Kitchen.

INTERNET
Currently our Hotspots are at
the Lodge, Barn, Madrone,
Willow, and the Welcome
Center. WiFi coupons can be
purchased at the Welcome
Center.

TELEPHONES
For local calls, dial 9 and then
the number at any phone. Long
distance will require a calling
card.
